2013 Nameless AA Barbie Fairy "Asha"

The dirty truth is that I ended up returning this girl.  After comparing her to the other four girls I have with the Asha face, she fell short.  She's gorgeous compared to most of the current playline, but for $11 I expect a real body, and I have to draw the line somewhere.

The gimmick body pops apart and can be joined with other mermaid/fantasy/fairy/princess bodies.  These girls have no individual names or line names.  It's as though even Mattel sees their Barbie fantasy line as one gigantic, generic goulash.  Poor Barbie.

The head is enlarged.  At the very end of the Fashion Fever line, Mattel used the regular Asha head alongside the new big heads.  No such luck here.

Country Kuttiez Jessie by Playhut

I had been waiting to get this girl for a while.  For several years, they've been sold in China under the name "Daisy," and I've watched them on TaoBao.  They aren't popular enough to be sold piecemeal like Kurhn and Barbie, and are usually packed in huge boxes, so the international shipping fees deterred me.

I'm glad to see that Playhut brought them over.  Amazon temporarily dropped the price the other night, so I grabbed her.  I picked this one in particular because I like strawberry blondes.

(Pardon my grimy lawn chair.)

The quality of the doll is acceptable to me, for a small brand playline doll.  The eyes are centered, the paint is precise.  I would rate the facial quality at around the same level as the 2012 Winx.  I would rate the clothes the same way, not the greatest, but still a step above the stuff the dollar store gets.  The hair is cheap nylon, and a bit sparse at the crown.
The body is that bellybutton clone with the skinny legs.  It's a slightly more sallow shade than the head.  The legs are much too rigid to bend, but there's a click/bend skeleton inside them.  The boots are MyScene knockoffs.

She's marked "DAISY" on the back of her head.

Here she is next to Kurhn.  She's obviously meant to be Kurhn-like, but she has her own sculpt.  Her features are softer and more delicately sculpted than Kurhn's, though I do prefer Kurhn's sculpted eye sockets over the smooth formless ones.

The box is copyrighted 2011, and Playhut has been sitting on the countrykuttiez.com domain name for a while without doing anything with it.

Good Morning, Kurhn

I'll get back to my marathon of Monster high junk in a bit.  This morning is all about Kurhn in a Liv fashion, County Fair.  It's perfect for her.

I'm not sure which Kurhn this is, I bought her nude.  I'm not a huge fan of Kurhn's clothes, though they are better designed and sewn every year.  I bought her from TaoBao, paid extra for the jointed body, and she showed up with a defective knee.  That's just how life is.  I have lots of dolls with perfects knees who aren't quite this pretty.

Create a Monster Ghost add-on pack

So I finally found a ghost pack that didn't have anything wrong with it.  I'm a year late, but better late than paint smudged.  I don't like the pink CAM wigs, the colors always seem kind of off to me.

Monster High Harpy and Siren CAMs

These never showed up locally.  I love the Harpy.  It's too bad there will never be a matching body and upper limbs.  The Harpy's big, wide-set eyes seem reminiscent of the flying demon girl from the movie V/H/S, so good for her.

She has a nice skin color in between pink and lavender.  I don't know why her eyebrows are blue, maybe to tie her in with the Siren CAM pieces.

Her bright eyes really stand out.  While they are wide set, she doesn't have a dopey, spaced out look.
The print on the dress is a trendy fashion print.  Lately, many of the MH fashion prints are less stylish and more kiddie, so I appreciate the cute prints even more.
There's not much point in taking her out of the box until I can get some kind of body for her.

The the Siren is really the worst Monster High head out there.  I'm not being a pill, I was honestly surprised to see such a clone-looking doll as an official release.

I hope later waves will look better.  I know sometimes Spectra looks awful, but another shipment of the same edition will look fine.  I photographed two different dolls at different stores, I think the bottom one had smaller eyes, but it wasn't an improvement.

I still haven't seen the two new starter sets.
