FAB Girl

Fab girl came on Monday. I realized after deboxing her that this probably was one I should have kept NRFB. But I really wanted to play with that pink skirt.

BJD head protector with bonus chocolate

My aunt gave me one of these last year while I was traveling, and I discovered that it's a great BJD head protector.

I saw them again tonight while I was shopping. When they go on clearance, I will pick a few more up.

$8.40 Fab Girl

Fab Girl $8.40 +tax, free shipping through Sunday.

Yay! Mostly, I want the skirt. It's a great fabric, even if it is a stainer.

First BC Reward

It went to getting a 2nd Sumatra Indonesia and the 80s Basics accessories.

+Sumatra $19
+80s Basics Pack $14.95
+Free Shipping code
-$20 reward
=$13.95 total

I find it strange that 2006 Diwali sells for over $100 on eBay, but 2008 Sumatra is still in the BC shop at $19. They are so similar.

I could doll all day...

...except sometimes it's so rewarding to be distracted.

Sakurana Shamrock Air edition

Sakurana came today! The doll is more action-figure like, and comes with an extra set of gripping hands and a pair of flat feet. It's designed for both the arms and hands to detach. She also came with her own stand.

The dress quality is OK, the inside of the skirt is serged. I'm not a big fan of shiny satin, but it is a human-clothes quality satin. Both her feet are a big non-standard size.
I know I need a real lightbox and real lights. I need it especially now that my very old camera is losing its dying. This is the real color of Sakurana, pale skin and a blazing pink fashion.

Harley Barbie

In my opinion, she's the star of the set. Here's a quick shot of her in the new dress.

Woo hoo Big Lots!

I'm not feeling like a big spender right now, but I did pick up two goodies at Big Lots last night. One of the last Only Hearts Club dolls (for her shoes) and a Barbie single fashion.

Harley Davidson Gift Set 2010

Ken has bits of black junk stuck on the lips and a chunk of white junk over the right eye. It won't come off. It doesn't really show up in the photos.

This is the last time I buy any Mattel product that isn't on clearance or otherwise steeply discounted. This has become my late New Years resolution.

R.I.P. most of the regular Dollfie line

I'm about five months late in finding this out, oops. Volks is killing off most of their 1/6th line, and in theory will release new stuff this spring.

I hope the re-launch is a real re-launch. It seems like nobody cares about anything except resin dolls and Blythes anymore.

What timing!

A few days ago, YouTube toy reviewer Mike Mozart did a clip about Bandai and Takara Barbie. Most of the 4,500 comments seem positive, which is pretty amazing considering how horrible YouTube comments usually are.

Barbie goodies from Target

Here are two Barbie goodies from Target's $1 section. I picked them up back in December.

Odekake Shoes and Bags!

My case of Re-Ment arrived. Yay! A whole case of Re-Ment has always been a guilty desire of mine. I have been lusting over this set since it came out.

Each of the 8 sets has a stylish little booklet. Even two years later, it's still trendy and cute.

I need a to find something to store them all in.

2010 Superstar Face

The head on the Superstar isn't any smaller, but the paint job is a little bit darker and more neutral. It makes the doll look a lot better than the other BHS Generation Girls.

The Superstar hair is also kanekalon, and the style is only glued in place. It loses all its body when the glue is washed out.

Crazy sale deals from Japan.

Hobby Link Japan has blonde 2nd edition Sakurana on sale for 5000 yen, about $55. Here's the link.

I never thought I would get a Sakurana, because the prices are just insane.

Here's the rest of their doll sale category. There's a 750 yen Compact Jenny, and some 50% off Cy Girls, mini Dals and Mini Pullips.

AmiAmi has a 1/2 off international shipping sale through the end of the month, but it only counts if the product ships within March. They don't have much in stock, though.

Re-Ment Shoes and Bags Set 2 will be mine.

I realized the other night that since playline Jenny is dead, Licca is the only source left for shoes. Licca's color choices are all baby pastels. I realized I needed to grab the Re-Ment shoe set before it sold out everywhere forever.

I took the plunge and ordered it from Manika, the only site left with it in stock at roughly retail. I didn't want to spend that much at once, but it's obvious that playline variety is dying in both Japan and America.

Here's the official photo, stolen from robochris.jp.

I can't wait for it to get here.

Target "Then and Now" Superstar $3 +coupon

Coupon code for 10% off your total order.
The new Harley Davidson set is also $55 compared to $75 at Mattel.

I'm not crazy for the pseudo-repro, but I do love the box art, and the "jewelry" and shoes are worth $3 alone.

"Lovely Lisa and Friends"

TOMY has released "Lovely Lisa and Friends" as a follow-up to the 2008 "Lovely Lisa" game. Lovely "Lisa" is, in fact, Lovely Licca.

I hope that if the second game does well, there might be some hope for Licca in the US. In 2005, Takara USA displayed their doll lines at Toy Fair, and at least one Jenny doll was available through Toys R Us/Amazon's joint website. After TRU split up with Amazon, the dolls disappeared.

In summer 2005, they kicked off the "Tokyo Posse" doll line, using Jenny bodies and heads. The line started with two FLCL characters, and was projected to have more dolls from other series. The dolls look nothing like the characters, cost $40 each, and bombed terribly. They are now worth only a few dollars each, apparently they were grossly over-produced as well.

Playline Jenny seems to be out of production in Japan, and has been for several years. Scheduled releases were delayed indefinitely.

I think Licca and regular Jenny would sell well in America. They never really got a chance in 2005.
