Miyabi glass eyes

This is one of the most beautiful pairs of glass eyes I've ever seen.

I would love a pair, but with the current exchange rate it would probably cost at least $150 to hire a shopping service to buy and re-ship them.

A great sale I have to pass up.

But I will pass along the link.

Top Models for $16, a few Best Models for under $20, Versus Barbie for $35, and a lot of other goodies.

Grumpy news day.

Flash Dance Barbie--It looks nothing like the actor. I hate raw, fraying edges on "collector" doll fashions.

Louboutin Shoe Pack--Nine pairs of all-plastic Barbie shoes went from $50 to $70. WTF??? That is absolutely insane. $50 was ridiculous to start with.

Sometimes I wonder how detached from culture I really am. Are the Barbie Basics really that shocking? They seem like standard fashion magazine content to me. And I really, sincerely doubt that $20 Basics are popular with kids, while Mattel has to coat the $10 dolls in neon colors, glitter, metallic foil, and then package them in a holographic foil box.

SIS time.

Superstar Repro Closeup

I snapped a few photos before banishing her to the eBay box.

Wiggles turns 1

The problem with catching a feral kitten is you never know when to celebrate its birthday. I just have to guess it was around the middle of this month, maybe later.

I wish I had taken more baby pictures, but she was such a mess. She scraped her nose trying to escape the wildlife trap I used, a bot fly made a mess of her neck, and the vet had to shave her to remove it. She never let it get her down.

She's such a busy girl. She loves being outside more than anything else. She likes to play with her best friend, Nosy. Nosy hasn't been a kitten since 1997 or 1998, but Wiggles helps her forget that.

SIS Trichelle

Luckily I ordered two of each SIS from the Mattel sale. Check out this hole in the corner of Trichelle's eye. :( I've seen a lot of messy dolls, but never an actual hole punched through two layers of paint.

Detubering a vintage FF

Both of the glitter top girls have sweet faces.

Fashion Fever Hair Highlights

I may have had this one stuffed behind my bed for two years. Time flies even when you AREN'T having fun! Now she is free.

Trixie

The first one I got had much lighter upper eyelashes on one side, so I ordered another. This one came with barely any eyelashes on the same side. And the box arrived wet, so I had to debox ASAP.

Courtney Love doll, only $6.25

Check the individual item pages to see the discounts.
Princess Ai dolls by BE Goths
3 pack for $16.87, or individual dolls $6.25

Or you can get official T-Shirts at similar slashed prices.

I'm not surprised that the line failed, but I am surprized that the dolls have been sitting on clearance for years.

More thinning down frustration

I knew I had about a half dozen Fashion Fever Mackies stashed away that I should sell. Then I started deboxing them, and ran into a dilemma. I like them all. They're all subtly different.

I know I will have to part with them some day, I need the space and minimal amount of money they're worth. It's hard when they're honestly attractive, I wouldn't have a second thought about selling the current Fashion Fever dolls.

Malibu X3

At a certain point, I realized I have way too many too-similar dolls eating up too much space and money. And now I have 2009 Malibu Repro Barbie adding to the clutter.

The first repro looks almost identical to the original. The sculpt is a little different and less detailed, but the paint job is 98% perfect.

The new repro face paint is crazy. It's more like a Then and Now doll. The 2009 body is much nicer than the previous MOD repros. I'm a bit addicted to bending the legs. They click like vintage!

Now I have to decide whether it stays or goes. I wish I could head swap, but they don't match. Neither is as orange as the original.

Really Rose Kayla

RR Kayla is one of the many dolls I got last year while I was traveling a lot, and I never got a chance to appreciate her when she came in.

Odedake Shoes #2

Re-Ment shoe set #2. I enjoy how Re-Ment has immortalized a dollar store vinyl tote and flip flops.

Obitsu Licca-sized body. I have no head for it. The whole torso is delightfully squishy.

Pink Grease Frenchie

Here's another doll I forgot to post about. I scooped up Frenchie at the "Dream Sale" last year for only a few dollars. I only wanted it for the pink hair, but the quality of the fashion is surprisingly nice. The eyes are a bit wonky in person, though. I don't think they're centered on the face properly, either.

Anna Umemiya doll

I thought I posted about this, but I guess I forgot. This doll has been floating around online stores for a while, but never with good pictures. I broke down and bought one last spring, it was a huge disappointment. It's not an attractive or salvageable doll at all, though the lined faux fur coat may be worth the $10 total I spent on it.

My pictures don't make it look as bad as it really is. It's also so old that the package is discoloring.
