Fashionistas #69 Blue Beauty!

I got her, woo hoo!  I'm so happy with her, she has a perfect face.  If I don't get any more dolls from this wave, I'll still be happy.

My only complaint is the face does have a few defects.  There's a bit of dark detritus in the plastic on her right cheek.  There are also some dark specks around the lips, I'm not brave enough to swab it with acetone and find out if it can come off.  It's not bad enough to really detract from the doll.

Farewell, Fashion Fever Drew FRUiTS style

The "Tokyo Girls" Fashion Fever dolls were selling on eBay near or over $100 per doll at one point, I was too foolish to sell her back then.  I sold her for a fraction of that, but at least I made back what I originally spent, so I'm happy.

This doll was modelled directly from a page of FRUiTS magazine, also seen in the 2001 American paperback of the same name.  It was a shameless little bit of plagiarism, but at least it accurately reflected a fashion worn circa 2000.  I miss the days of Fashion Fever, they were stylish and beautiful dolls.  My photos don't do justice to how bright and vibrant all the colors are.  Look at how much stuff she came with, and these were originally $10 in 2004.

If I had all the money and space in the world, I would have kept her, but she spent more time in a box under my bed than on a shelf.  What's the point of owning a doll if I haven't got the space to look at it?

Curvy Fashionistas #27 with blue hair "Sweetheart Stripes"

I got snookered with an impulse buy.  While at Walmart, I noticed this fresh case of dolls with a $2 off coupon stuck to the front.  This was the only new doll in the assortment, so I bought her.  I don't like to buy dolls with sunglasses over the eyes, I can't see the eyes, and the glasses may damage the head or paint.

She got the rushed deboxing treatment, because I absolutely want a different outfit for her.  Here's the outfit free of the box glare.  This fashion deserved a bigger budget, at least enough for the peplum to to be the same material as the bodice.

Here's the doll free of the sunglasses, which also had dings on both lenses.  The eyes are just slightly off center, but I haven't seen a single doll with this head mold with perfectly centered eyes.  The paint has a few slight issues, and the glasses left a dent on the forehead.  It's not terrible, but I do feel like Mattel should raise the price a few dollars and raise the overall quality, at least to give them better fashions and make sure nothing is damaged.

Her right eyebrow has a slight smudge, and there's a paint peck in the inner left eye corner.  It's nothing disastrous, but this is why I prefer to see the eyes before buying.

The arms have a decent range of motion, thank goodness.  Overall, I'm not really impressed, but at least it was only $6.  I'm going to attempt to sew a new simple dress for her, if I don't get distracted by my cat first.

1st wave Ghoulia Yelps, adieu!

The night my sewing machine broke, I decided to sell Ghoulia to partially fill the hole in my budget.  I photographed her, and the next morning, my digital camera died.  She sold a few weeks ago, and I'm kicking off another purge.

Even though I liked Ghoulia, I don't like having so much stuff.  I enjoy almost everything I have individually, but I own a mountain of fragile boxes of boxes.  I can't display everything at once, and things manage to get damaged in even in storage.

She was one of the first MH dolls I bought.  I'm starting to feel like I could happily thin my collection down to maybe a half dozen dolls.
